Let’s talk about the difference between a life coach and a therapist. While they both are great resources for mental health, they provide somewhat different services and have different training and credentials.
A life coach can be a wonderful resource for you if you are looking for someone to help you get organized, reach your goals, hold you accountable, etc. Life coaches will help you explore solutions to problems, goals, and plans for achieving those goals. They can be really great at helping you to get your life organized and on the path to success. There are multiple different types of coaches available; business coaches, career coaches, sex coaches, relationship coaches, health and wellness coaches, the list goes on. You can see a general life coach, or find a coach in the niche you are looking for. Life coaches typically have a certification program they went through, however, this is not necessary to be a coach. A life coach could be the answer for you if you are looking to organize your life, or figure out what to do in life. They can help you explore your options!
A Therapist is able to go more in-depth with you on multiple levels. Therapists can help you analyze and process past trauma, discuss your history and past experiences, and process your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Counseling allows you to work through any mental illness or disorders you might be struggling with. Similar to life coaches, there are counselors that specialize in certain areas (relationships, sex, individuals, anxiety, depression, etc.). Counselors have to, at least, have a Master’s degree, and be licensed to practice. A psychotherapist may be the answer for you if you are looking for something a little more in-depth than what a life coach is able to do.
Both life coaches and therapists can be extremely helpful and beneficial to you. You don’t have to only see one, you can have a life coach and a therapist, and work on multiple parts of your life all at the same time! Intima Health has both professions available to you.
