As parts of the United States are slowly opening back up, most people are having to create a new “normal.” Before quarantine and social distancing, our lives looked a lot different. Now that things are starting to return to a new normal, it looks far from what our “normal” was before this pandemic. The fear that this sickness has brought to people worldwide, is so hard to comprehend and to overcome. There are the obvious physical and financial effects of COVID-19, but we do not want to forget the mental and emotional effects that can be detrimental in the aftermath of this pandemic.
Maybe you are returning to work or maybe you are beginning to go shopping in the grocery store again. Everywhere you go, people are wearing masks, and some might even be wearing gloves. Before this pandemic, most of us probably didn’t own a mask. Now, it is required in a lot of states to wear one out in public. This is a new situation that we as a community and world, are navigating.
If this pandemic took your job, you have had countless burdens laid on your shoulders to carry. It has been a scary time, and you probably feel uneasy because the stress of losing your livelihood only adds more worry on top of all of your other responsibilities. We encourage you to seek help to work through the stress and process what you are experiencing right now.
Opening this dialogue of truth with a professional can help you begin to prioritize your mental well-being, and give you the emotional capacity to create a plan to move forward. You can, and will come out of all of this in a better place.
Loss Of Loved Ones
If this pandemic took a family member or friend from you, you have also been faced with great, unimaginable loss. This is devastating, and grieving the loss of a loved one is never easy, and never the same for anyone. You are NOT alone in this. Reach out for support from the people in your household, allowing your loved ones (who you can’t be around right now) to zoom or facetime with you and check-in. Accept all of the love and support that is available right now. This will help you cope, and bring you out of dark times that may lie ahead.
If you need extra help coping, or looking for someone to talk to, Intima Health is here for you and can be a great resource to understanding those personal and unique moments of grief you might experience.
Maybe this pandemic has taken a toll on your healthy mental state. COVID-19 has been notorious for causing many to struggle mentally with the fact that many, if not most, aspects of their lives have changed. You have been forced to stay home for months on end. If this is your story, you have also been overwhelmed by the effects of this pandemic. You may not have gotten any breaks from home (whether it be kids, spouse, work, etc.). You might have gotten cabin fever as your normal day to day activities disappeared and monotony set in. This may have taken a toll on your outlook on many things in life.
Our Intima Health providers are here for you to help with any concerns that have been growing such as stress, anxiety, depression, or addiction. Please don’t let these feelings go unchecked, and please don’t push them aside. Start the dialogue to start anew and to get yourself to a healthy mental and emotional place.
The effects of this pandemic have caused many relationships between couples to digress and it might feel overwhelming to go another day. Routines have changed, sharing of space- mandatory, and facing those issues that have quietly plagued your relationship have come to the forefront. This is a time to come together and turn some of these negative aspects into a bonding opportunity in your relationship. As you work together with your partner to communicate each others’ needs and desires, this can be a beautiful time to finally discuss and overcome these difficulties in your relationship.
